AP-5 initially worked for the Republic as an analyst on an attack cruiser during the Clone Wars. During the Empire era he managed inventory on Cargo transport 241 for the Empire, suffering mistreatment before joining the Rebellion.

BB-8 was an astromech droid with a domed head sat upon a small, ball-like body. His role was to maintain Poe Dameron's X-Wing & compute astrogation calculations, but like many astromechs developed a mind and personality of his own.

'Threepio' was a gold skinned protocol droid who had been rebuilt from parts by Anakin Skywalker on Tatooine. He had a fussy and fastidious disposition making him effective at his role whilst equally annoying to those around him.

D-0 was a small droid created by a droidsmith who was killed by the Sith assassin Ochi of Bestoon. Ochi was a cruel master to D-0. When Ochi died D-0 was left to deactivate to conserve power before being reactivated by BB-8.

EV-9D9 was a feminine overseer droid with a sadistic streak owned by Jabba the Hutt who enjoyed torturing fellow droids. After Jabba's death she was employed as bartender in Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina in Mos Eisley.

The FA-4 had a spindly body and arms mounted on a wheeled lower unit. Its head was bulbous and was attached to the body via a slender neck. Used exclusively as pilots, the droids had an extensive database of ship types.
