On this day in 2005 Star Wars: Battlefront II was released on Xbox, PlayStation 2, and PC. Overall similar to Battlefront, this edition provided enhanced gameplay including space combat and the ability to play as Jedi characters or other heroes.

Naomi Ackie was born today in 1992. Naomi is a British actress who will appear in the 2019 film Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker as new character, Jannah, a human female from Kef Bir.

Jim Cummings is born (1952)
Today in 1952, in Youngstown, Ohio, US, Jim Cummings was born. The veteran voice actor and singer voiced Winnie the Pooh and Tigger for the film Christopher Robin. He portrayed Weequay pirate captain Hondo Ohnaka in The Clone Wars and Rebels.

In 1959, today in Scotland Jimmy Vee was born. He is best known for playing a number of Doctor Who monsters & aliens including Bannakaffalatta. Since 2015 he's portrayed R2 D2 in The Force Awakens, Rogue One, The Last Jedi & The Rise of Skywalker.

Today in 1972, in Westminster, London, Melanie Thandiwe Newton OBE was born. More familiar by the name of Thandie Newton, the actress has starred in a number of English and American movies. In 2018 she played the human criminal, Val, in Solo.

Clone Wars Cartoon Season 1, Episode 1 first aired (2003)
Today in 2003 Star Wars: Clone Wars began on Cartoon Network. Clone Wars was an animated television series produced by Cartoon Network Studios. There were 25 chapters; Vol I were 3-minute shorts, while Vol II was twelve-fifteen minute episodes.

In 1926, today in Poplar, East London, Ted Burnett was born. The actor portrayed the bartender Wuher in A New Hope. For his dialogue (telling Luke his droids had to wait outside), his cockney accent was dubbed over by an uncredited American voice.

Today in 2017, Walt Disney chairman & CEO Bob Iger, while on a quarterly earnings call with investors, announced that Disney & Lucasfilm were developing a new live-action Star Wars TV series for Disney's then-unnamed upcoming streaming service.

In Leytonstone, London, today in 1931 Don Henderson was born. An actor of stage, television and screen. Don was known for playing both 'tough guy' roles and authority figures. In 1977 he played Imperial General Cassio Tagge in A New Hope.

British actor, Angus Wright, was born today in 1964 in Washington DC. He was the son of a British diplomat based, at that time, in the US. In 2016, in Rogue One, he played Captain Kado Oquoné of the Sphyrna-class corvette 'Lightmaker'.

Mandalorian premieres on Disney+ (2019)
Today in 2019, The Mandalorian premieres on the new Disney+ streaming service for customers in the US, Canada & the Netherlands. Other countries will get access at later dates into 2020. The Mandalorian is the first live action Star Wars TV show.

Today in 1976, the novelisation of Star Wars was published. Originally titled Star Wars: From the Adventures of Luke Skywalker, it was written by Alan Dean Foster and adapts the original Star Wars movie, based on the screenplay by George Lucas.

John Hollis is born (1927)
John Hollis was born today in 1927 in Fulham, London. John played a number of film & TV roles including Ernst Stavro Blofeld in the cold open of the 1981 James Bond film For Your Eyes Only. In 1980, John portrayed Lobot in The Empire Strikes Back.

Today in 2019 Jedi: Fallen Order was released. It is a canon single-player video game developed by Respawn Entertainment & released by EA. The game tells the story of Cal Kestis, a surviving Jedi Padawan, 5 years after Revenge of the Sith.

On this day in 2008, Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II aired on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. It was created by Seth Green & Matthew Senreich and is the sequel to Robot Chicken: Star Wars (a Star Wars-themed special of the show Robot Chicken).

Today in 1985, the twelfth episode of the first season of Ewoks aired on ABC. The episode was entitled 'Blue Harvest'. The title derives from the original working title used in the production of Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi.

In New York today in 1962 Jon Stewart was born. George Lucas was interviewed by Jon at Celebration V in Orlando 2010. Jon asked George where Obi-Wan Kenobi was born, and in a tuckerization of Jon's name, George responded 'Stewjon'.

In 1969, in New York, Chris Weitz was born today. A director, screenwriter and producer, in 2016 he scripted the first Star Wars stand-alone film, Gareth Edwards' Rogue One, replacing Gary Whitta and co-writing the movie with Tony Gilroy.
